“At adidas, we seek to inspire through our products, our style, and in communities and the 2018 IMCLA National Cup provides a unique stage to authentically connect with lacrosse athletes and fans,” said Dan Near, Sr. Director of Lacrosse for adidas. “Our mission is to help athletes perform better and we’ll bring our most newest and most innovative high-performance products to this showcase for lacrosse.”
In partnership with the IMLCA, the IMLCA National Cup is more than just a high school tournament. It is an opportunity for high school players to show off their skills and learn from many of the best coaches in lacrosse.
“The IMLCA National Cup offers much more than the typical recruiting tournament,” commented J. B. Clarke President of the IMLCA and head coach at Limestone College. “The event incorporates opportunities for college coaches to be part of instructional clinics and lead recruiting seminars. In addition to this, the IMLCA Board of Directors will be meeting on site and planning professional development activities specifically for all our attending members. We are confident that the IMLCA National Cup has the potential to become the premier event on the summer recruiting circuit in the upcoming years.”
The 2017 IMLCA National Cup hosted more than 115 college coaches with top coaches leading clinics and recruiting seminars. Charley Toomey (Loyola) and Paul Cantabene (Stevenson) led instructional clinics in their respected areas of goalie and face-off play. Recruiting Q & A Sessions allowed players, parents and club coaches opportunities to interact with prominent college coaches including: Bill Tierney (Denver), Nick Myers (Ohio State), Jeff Tambroni (Penn State) and Brian Voelker (Drexel). The 2018 event will again provide unique opportunities for IMLCA member coaches from the Division I, II and III ranks to engage and educate aspiring lacrosse players and their families.
Lee Corrigan, President of CSE, said, “The event just gets better and better. The commitment from adidas elevates this event in the minds of coaches and players. The gear provided to our All-Star Game participants and uncommitted game players is outstanding. The All-Star Game, Showcase and clinics give the players added opportunities to show their skills to sidelines filled with college coaches.”
